“Metamorphic AM fills an important gap in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM). While the majority of DFAM tools focus on the geometrical aspects, Metamorphic employs bespoke computational tools that deliver physics-inspired designs, considering both geometry and additive manufacturing (AM) processes. In our Fusion Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) project, FATHOM (Fabrication of Tungsten using Hot Isostatic Pressing and Additive Manufacturing), Metamorphic developed sophisticated computational fluid dynamics models that yielded a unique design for a tungsten-based plasma-facing nuclear fusion component. Due to the bespoke nature of the modelling tools, they can be easily tailored to various geometries while providing quantitative metrics for comparing different designs. I enjoy the ongoing collaboration with Metamorphic AM and look forward to engaging in more projects across different sectors”
